Ercot Power
ERCOT on peak power prices began the week on a
declining path and leveled out at midweek. The week
ended with prices increasing.
ERCOT on peak prompt month prices finished the week at
$58.82, down 1.55% or $0.91.
ERCOT Bal ‘08 closed at $69.15MWh, down 0.82%.
ERCOT Cal ‘09 closed at $70.40/MWh, up 0.01%.
ERCOT Cal ‘10 closed at $69.53/MWh, up 0.13%.
The prompt month for the Houston Zone on peak finished
at $69.07/MWh, and the prompt month North Zone on peak
finished at $64.32/MWh.
NYISO—NEPOOL Power
Northeast power prices started the week on a declining
path and leveled out as mid week approached.
The week ended with prices slowly increasing.
NYISO Zone J on peak prompt month closed the week at
$105.50/MWh, decreasing $2.08/MWh, a decrease of
1.97% from last week.
NYISO Zone A on peak prompt month finished at $66.75/
MWh, a decrease of $2.08/MWh or 3.11%.
Massachusetts NEMA on peak prompt month closed at
$78.36/MWh, a decrease of 3.00% or $2.35/MWh.
Massachusetts SEMA on peak prompt month finished the
week at $88.65/MWh, decreasing 0.96% or $0.85/MWh.
PJM Power
PJM power prices started the week on a declining path.
Prices continued on this path as mid week approached
and increased slightly at the end of the week.
Cinergy on peak prompt month finished last week at
$63.00/MWh, a decrease of 0.40% or $0.25/MWh.
NI Hub on peak prompt month finished the same week
with a decrease of $1.08/MWh closing at $62.00/MWh, a
change of 1.74%.
PJM West Hub on peak prompt month decreased $0.96/
MWh closing at $76.56/MWh, a change of 1.25%.
PSEG on peak prices for the prompt month closed at
$92.75/MWh, a change of 1.13%, down $1.05/MWh.
Commodities Futures
Natural gas prices started
last week on a declining
path and continued on this path
as mid week approached.
Natural gas prices finished the
week staying relatively steady.
NYMEX prices for the prompt
month ended the week at
$7.95/MMBtu, down 0.80%.
NYMEX Bal ‘08 closed at
$8.19/MMBtu, a change of
0.38%, down $0.03/MMBtu.
NYMEX Cal ‘09 finished the
week at $8.45/MMBtu; NYMEX
Cal ‘10 closed at $8.33/MMBtu.
Algonquin, Transco Z6, and
Tetco M3 prompt month basis
to NYMEX closed at $1.20/
MMBtu, $1.80/MMBtu and
$1.02/MMBtu.
NYMEX crude prompt month
prices closed at $90.57/BBL, a
decrease of 2.34% or $2.12
from the previous week.
Natural Gas Storage: Gas in Storage Decreased 155 Bcf
Working gas in storage was
2,536 Bcf as of Friday, January
18, 2008, according to EIA
estimates.
This represents a net decline of
155 Bcf from the previous
week.
Stocks were 247 Bcf less than
last year at this time and 174
Bcf above the 5-year average
of 2,362 Bcf.
In the East Region, stocks
were 59 Bcf above the 5-year
average following net withdrawals
of 80 Bcf.
Stocks in the Producing Region
were 102 Bcf above the 5-year
average of 707 Bcf after a net
withdrawal of 49 Bcf.
Stocks in the West Region
were 12 Bcf above the 5-year
average after a net drawdown
of 26 Bcf.
At 2,536 Bcf, total working gas
is within the 5-year historical
range.
